Crying Statue of Virgin Mary Weep Tears of Blood

A Facebook user named Sudip Roy recently shared pictures of the statue of Virgin Mary holding the dead body of her son Jesus and her statue seemed to be crying tears of blood.

Roy took the photo at St. Philip Neri’s Church last April 19 of the current year which was Good Friday. The church is located in Katukurunda (Kalutara), Sri Lanka.

In the video he posted, many people also took pictures and videos of the said statue. Although it hasn't been confirmed if the statue truly shed tears or if it was just fake.

Claims about supernatural phenomena, including weeping statues, have historically been common in Catholicism. Catholic people believe that Mary is the mother of Jesus meaning she is the mother of God.

In Catholic history, supernatural events are usually attributed to Mary's power. Just like in France, the Chartres cathedral  got burned down and only "The Veil of The Virgin", Mary's relic was safe. This is after being guarded by 3 priests who also miraculously were preserved from the said fire.

Mary’s tears have special significance for Catholics: She cries not only over the sins of the world, but also over the pain she endured in her earthly life, referred to as “the seven sorrows of Mary.” These sorrows, which include the crucifixion and death of Jesus, are depicted by seven swords piercing Mary’s flaming heart.

It’s not surprising for a weeping statue of Mary to become an object of prayer and devotion.

And when this happens, the local bishop sometimes steps in to investigate.

Share your thoughts below! Do you believe its real thing or is it just fake?
