Miss Universe Catriona Gray slams body-shamers after fellow beauty queen's 'fat' meme

Catriona Elisa Magnayon Grau is a Filipina-Australian model, singer, and beauty pageant titleholder. She is the current holder of the Miss Universe crown.

She recently fired back against those body shamers weeks after she was called "fat" by a fellow model.

She said that body-shaming should not be tolerated as let out her anger in a Q&A along with her 580,000 Twitter followers last week.

This was after Coco Arayha Suparurk who was crown Miss Grand Thailand International 2019 recently. Suparurk shared a meme calling Catriona "fat" earlier this July.

The photo that was shared by Suparurk on her Instagram account shows the bodies of Catriona and Miss Grand International 2018 Clara Sosa, comparing the two. The said photo had the word "fit" beside Sosa's photo while "fat" was written next to Catriona's.

One of Catriona's fans asked her point of view regarding body-shaming and Catriona shared that she knew how it felt to be victimized.

'Bodyshaming is hurtful and shld never be tolerated. If anyone reading this too has been bodyshamed, I know how it feels,' she tweeted.

'I'm sorry you've had to experience that. But knw that you are more than your appearance. You are a capable, unique and worthy person. And you are never alone.'

Suparurk quickly deleted the said post after getting bashed by Catriona's fans around the world and of course from her home country, the Philippines.

Catriona did not reply to Suparurk's post directly but when she answered her fan's question, she let the world know howe she felt about body-shaming.

Later, she tweeted: 'Obviously I stand firmly against any form of bullying and bashing – online and off."

'It is never, ever okay to put someone down for the sake of 'expressing your opinion'. With words come power and we should be using those words to build someone up and not pull them down.'
